Simple ... in 1962
John Luckman set up an accountancy practice at Pearl
Assurance Buildings,
Hertford Street, a stone's throw from
Broadgate, with the intention of
developing a successful, competent, professional firm who were not too
pompous to talk to their clients. He was soon joined in partnership by David
Lightowler, and by trainee articled clerk,Tim James. In September 1966, totalling 6 partners & employees the firm moved to larger premises at Park View,51 Walsgrave Road, overlooking Gosford Green and within cheering distance of Coventry Football Club. Over the next 9 years, they expanded to nearly 20 and were joined by Brian Owen & Margaret Yardley amongst a host of others. In July 1975 Tim James was admitted to partnership and the firm moved to Bridge House, 9-13 Holbrook Lane, just up the road from Courtaulds and the Foleshill Road. During the next 25 years the firm's numbers doubled, seeing Brian Owen, Terry Frankton and Ash Rishiraj joining the partnership, young new employees by the names of Paul Taylor and Martin Horsley, the eventual retirements of Lightowler, Luckman, James, & Taylor and the first merger in the firm's history to become as LDP (Luckmans Duckett Parker). The firm then moved to Queens Road, and in November 2001 Brian Owen left to set up his own practice at Warwick Gate ... effectively to turn full circle back to John Luckman's beginnings in 1962. If you look at our team now you will see the others who have come with him. Funny old world isn't it .... |
