I remember the photo session for my first passport,
being told "not to smile under any circumstances whatsoever". Smiling
would have been impossible bearing in mind the enforced cost, the passport
authorities had very specific rules which made "home made" pictures
useless.
I also remember the holiday, Lloret on Sea, Costa
Brava, Spain. That was when I first learned how expensive alcohol, tobacco, and
life in general was in Britain. It was an absolute gas and I can certainly
understand the current "Ibiza" craze because I've ... "been
there, done it, got the clap"
